Become a Member

If you think you may be a descendant of a Revolutionary War soldier or a civilian who contributed to the cause of American freedom, you may be eligible to join the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). Or, if you have no idea about your male or female ancestry, but you'd like to find out, we would be delighted to assist you with discovering any connection you may have to one of the Patriots. If you are interested in joining the SAR, we would be happy to walk you through the process.

Briefly, the application procedure involves your identifying and documenting each generation, beginning with you and going back to your Patriot. If you happen to have an ancestor (e.g., father, grandfather, g-grandfather, etc.) who was a member of the SAR, (or, an ancestor who was in the Daughters of the American Revolution), much of your necessary documentation may already be on record.
